James 4: The Temptation to Win

James 4: The Temptation to Win

Winning

Many of us, if not all of us, experience a subtle temptation to “win” or to do what we can to be viewed favorably in comparison to others. It’s a subtle version of the competitive mindset of reality TV shows, where people often state they “are there to win, not to make friends.” ¬†However this is exactly the opposite of how God wants us to view ourselves and treat others. In this message from James 4, Sabrina guides us to a better understanding of what it means to be friends of God instead of friends of the cultural influences of the world.

Gratitude vs. Entitlement

Gratitude vs. Entitlement

For us in North America, money is a huge stumbling block for us. In many ways, worrying about money consumes more of our time and energy than probably any other single worry (despite the fact that we are the wealthiest nation on the planet). The truth is that money holds a lot of power over our thought life, our spirituality, and what we devote energy to.
